United Alliance Against Corruption: The New Term is Drowning in Political Alliances and Sectarian Quotas That Have Fragmented the Country and Continue to Crush the People: Reform and Rescue Lie Elsewhere!
The continued absence of a just state is pushing the Lebanese towards a total loss of security and immunity against any attack on their lives, be it internal or external!
The suffering of depositors in Lebanese banks epitomizes the suffering of the entire Lebanese people. A suffering that needs no interpretation or justification: a clear and explicit theft, however it is approached; theft. The theft of livelihoods, peace, life savings, security, children’s smiles, hope, dignity, the future, and even the right to a decent burial! Yes, it is the “Theft of the Century.” And a thief is held accountable, not rewarded—except in states of oppression and darkness.
This theft mirrors every transaction in Lebanon—every theft. In healthcare, education, housing, food, clothing, waste management, telecommunications, services, etc. Every path leading to victimization and death, whether through swift or slow destruction.
Words alone are no longer useful, whether about one horrific event or another, about targeting whistleblowers like Rami Ollaik or silencing their voices, about the Military Court’s abuse against them or the malicious decisions of public prosecutors targeting them, about arbitrary arrests of decent citizens or the protection and immunities granted to high-ranking corrupt officials, about judges who have mastered fabricating and falsifying cases or staging disgraceful theatrical scandals. All of this has become mere details within a larger, interconnected reality—one that is darkened by extreme decay and corruption.
It is the bitter, repugnant truth: “What you put in the pot, you take out with the ladle.” It is our ugly reality. It is our sins—all the transgressions of our past, present, and future. We are the truly miserable ones, and it is by our own hands.
It is the “pandemic of corruption” that has spared no one. And we are its creators, its worshippers, and the murderers of those who fight it. Isn’t this how we killed prophets and saints, betraying them only to bring upon ourselves divine wrath and the curse of history?
We are the ones in control. How many more liberations beyond the “liberation of deposits” do we need? The choice is ours, and our security is in our hands. The path to salvation is before us—let us choose.
